A Meeting with The Delegation of the Libyan British Business Council (LBBC)

On Thursday, 10th of November 2022, the Director General of the Institute of Banking and Financial Studies, accompanied by the Institute’s team, held a meeting with a delegation from the Libyan British Business Council (LBBC) during their visit to the capital, Tripoli. The delegation was part of a high-level group of Libyan and British business leaders representing a wide range of economic sectors.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mark Harrington and Mr. Imran Abu-sehmen, representing the Council, and focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the areas of training and professional development. The Discussions highlighted opportunities for organizing specialized study visits and practical training programs in the United Kingdom for banking leaders, with the aim of enhancing exposure to international best practices, particularly in the fields of:

  • Banking compliance.
  • Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT)
  • Risk management

In line with the most advanced standards applied in leading financial and banking institutions.

The meeting also explored the development of tailored training programs to strengthen specialized English language skills and enhance financial technology (FinTech) competencies among professionals working in the banking sector.
