Workshop in Benghazi on Bridging the Gap Between Academic Education and the Banking Sector
On Monday, 27th of January 2025, a workshop titled “Reducing the Gap Between Academic Outputs and Professional Requirements in the Banking Sector – Basel Committee on Banking Supervision” was held in Benghazi. The event was organized as part of the joint cooperation between the Faculty of Economics, University of Benghazi, and the Institute of Banking and Financial Training and Studies.
The workshop brought together university students and employees from the banking sector, shedding light on the key challenges faced by graduates when entering the labor market. Discussions focused on mechanisms for aligning academic outcomes with the standards and requirements of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.
Key themes addressed during the workshop included the development of academic curricula to reflect international banking standards, and the enhancement of partnerships between academic institutions and the banking sector to effectively bridge the existing gap. The sessions featured interactive discussions on improving students’ professional readiness and increasing the operational efficiency and competencies of banking personnel.
This cooperation falls within ongoing national efforts to strengthen integration between academic education and labor market needs, aiming to prepare a new generation of highly qualified banking professionals capable of meeting the evolving challenges of the financial sector with competence and professionalism.
